Professor Noah Diffenbaugh, '96, BS '97
Professor Diffenbaugh is the Kara J Foundation Professor and Kimmelman Family Senior Fellow in Stanford's Doerr School of Sustainability, and the Olivier Nomellini Family University Fellow in Undergraduate Education. He studies the processes by which climate change could impact people and ecosystems, including agriculture, water resources, human health, and extreme events. He speaks frequently with the public and the media, and has provided testimony and scientific briefings to federal, state and local officials. Professor Diffenbaugh is an elected Fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), and is a recipient of the James R. Holton Award and William Kaula Award from the AGU, and a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation.
Angela Amarillas, ’97, ’01
Angela has a passion for historical and vernacular social dance, and has taught and performed throughout North America, as well as in Paris, Rome, Prague, Venice, St. Petersburg, and more. She majored in HumBio and received a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Education, but her greatest claim to fame is that she is the first person to graduate from Stanford with a minor in dance. After a very full career as a health educator, Angela is back on the Farm to build a financial wellness program for students.
Richard Powers, '70
Richard has taught social dance to about 10,000 Stanford students over the past 32 years, and also teaches workshops around the world. Powers was selected by the Centennial Issue of Stanford Magazine as one of Stanford University’s most notable graduates of its first century. In 1999 he was awarded the Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel Award for distinctive and exceptional contributions to education at Stanford University. In addition to his Stanford courses, Richard has taught courses for the American Conservatory Theater San Francisco and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
