Judith Goldstein is the Janet M. Peck Professor of International Communication, professor of political science, and senior fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. She has been at Stanford since the early 1980s and teaches courses on all aspects of international politics, specializing in issues of political economy. Her current work focuses on the interaction of globalization and politics, and in particular, the origins and effects of the backlash to globalization. During our trip to Australia, she will consider the potential shift in United States foreign policy with the newly elected administration and how this could impact the Australian economy, its relationship with China, and Western influence in the region.
In addition to her academic and teaching role at Stanford, she has held a number of administrative positions, including chair of the political science department, chair of the Faculty Senate, and chair of the programs in public policy, international political studies, and international relations. She has been an associate dean in the School of Humanities and Sciences and sits on the university budget committee as well as the committee on athletics. She holds degrees from UC Berkeley, Columbia, and UCLA and is the author and editor of numerous books and academic journal publications.
