It was the ports along the Atlantic coast that led the way to the people of Europe traveling the wider world. On this epic adventure, we’ll visit cities whose evolution was heavily influenced by global engagement, and we will immerse ourselves in the historical and cultural legacy that endures.
We’ll explore the great art collections of Amsterdam and Bruges; the hallowed grounds of Normandy’s beaches; the UNESCO site of Mont-Saint-Michel; Frank Gehry’s remarkable Guggenheim Museum; and the Christian pilgrimage site of Santiago de Compostela. Travelers will relish the comforts of the elegant new Diana, one of the world’s most environmentally responsible ships.

Itinerary
History, art, and architecture from Amsterdam to Lisbon
Begin in Amsterdam and explore the historic city before embarking on an eleven-night cruise aboard the elegant Diana. Discover five countries—the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, and Portugal—exploring Bruges' medieval charm, Mont-Saint-Michel's Gothic splendor, Bilbao's avant-garde architecture, and Porto's historic allure, concluding in Lisbon.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Arrive in Amsterdam and transfer to our luxurious hotel. Gather this evening for a welcome reception and dinner.

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a tour of this historic city followed by a visit to the famed Rijksmuseum, renowned for its extensive collection of Dutch Golden Age masterpieces, including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and other prominent artists of the 17th century. Transfer to the pier to embark elegant Diana, our home for the next eleven nights.

Explore Bruges, a beautifully preserved medieval town known for its charming canals, stunning architecture, and exquisite art. Our walking tour includes highlights such as the marketplace, Belfry Tower and the Basilica of the Holy Blood. Afterwards visit the city hall, which features beautiful Gothic hall, late nineteenth-century murals, and the Church of Our Lady, home to Michelangelo’s sculpture of Madonna and Child.

Disembark in Honfleur this morning, known for its picturesque Old Harbor and artistic heritage. Visit the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, honoring the nearly 10,000 American soldiers who fell during World War II.

This morning, arrive in the medieval city of Saint-Malo, known for its seafaring heritage and as the home of explorer Jacques Cartier. After a guided tour and leisure time to explore the town’s walls and quaint shops, enjoy lunch aboard the ship then disembark to visit Mont-Saint-Michel. One of Western Europe's architectural marvels, this UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its striking Gothic abbey, a picturesque village, and fortress atop the small island.

Disembark at the fishing town of Roscoff on the southern shores of the English Channel. Travel through the scenic Breton countryside to Saint-Thégonnec, a small village known for its lavishly decorated church and churchyard. After lunch on Diana, explore Morlaix, an important 18th-century port town with grand houses lining the harbor. Take in the historic old town, filled with colorful, 16th-century half-timbered buildings.

This morning, head out on an excursion to the charming town of Pont-Aven, famous for its mills and its association with Paul Gauguin, who lived and painted in the village. After lunch, enjoy a guided tour of the Château de Keriolet, a magnificent neo-Gothic castle renovated in the 19th century. Conclude our day with a visit to Concarneau's Ville Close, a medieval fortified island.

The seaside resort town of Royan serves as our gateway to Saintes and Cognac. In Saintes, explore the charming old town with its significant Roman-era sites such as the triumphal arch erected by Emperor Germanicus and the Amphitheater. After lunch, travel to Cognac for a walking tour that includes the Château Royal du Cognac, the historic city center, and a tour and tasting at a local brandy distillery before returning to the ship.

Today we explore Bilbao, the capital of Spain's Basque Country, known for its blend of avant-garde architecture and traditional heritage. Visit the stunning Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, home to a collection of modern art and contemporary monumental sculpture. Afterward our visit, walk the narrow streets of the old city with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture then enjoy some time in the elegant Plaza Nueva.

Today we visit Santillana del Mar, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Western Europe. Founded in the 8th century as a stop on the northern pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, the town centers around the Church of Santa Juliana and features some of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in northwestern Spain. Tour the historic quarter with its quaint streets, historic homes, and rich architectural heritage.

Today, travel to Santiago de Compostela, one of Spain's most beautiful medieval cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a guided tour of the central square and discover historic sites including the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the town hall, and the Palace of Saint Jerome. Enjoy a festive lunch at the ornate Hostal de Los Reyes Católicos, a former hospital converted to a luxury hotel. As we head back to the ship, relax and take in the beautiful panoramic views during our drive through Galicia's rugged countryside.

Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city, is renowned for its atmospheric charm and historic quarters that cascade down to the Douro River. In the afternoon, visit a historic wine lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia to learn about this unique wine and taste the world-famous port wine.
